Communities we support

Not every community we walk alongside is a church

Some are ministries and places we support because they embody what we care about: welcome without conditions, care for neighbors, and peace. They aren’t church plants, and they don’t need to become one for us to stand with them.

Supported community Not a church plant

Cincinnati, Ohio

Imagine Cincinnati

Imagine Cincinnati brings young families together for care and connection: free weekly playgroups for parents and caregivers of little ones, seasonal celebrations, yoga, and a children’s community garden. It isn’t a church, and you don’t need to be religious to take part.

Central District Conference is one of its partners, along with City Peace Church, a CDC congregation in Cincinnati, and several other local congregations.

When & where

  • Family playgroups on Thursdays, 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., at City Peace Church, 4229 Brownway Ave, in Oakley
  • Family playgroups on Fridays, 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., at Community Happens Here, 6238 Montgomery Rd, in Pleasant Ridge
  • Always free

Leadership: Jen Fisher, founder and executive director

Supported community Not a church plant

Cassopolis, Michigan

Camp Friedenswald

Camp Friedenswald, “the peaceful woods,” is a Mennonite camp and retreat center on 360 acres along Shavehead Lake. Children, youth and families come for summer and winter camps, and churches, schools and families come for retreats.

Leaders from across Central District Conference founded the camp in 1949. CDC still supports it and appoints its board.

What happens there

  • Week-long summer camps and weekend winter camps for children, youth and families
  • Retreats, outdoor education, and hosting for church, school and family groups
  • 15406 Watercress Way, Cassopolis, Michigan

“we wholeheartedly affirm, welcome and celebrate all people regardless of racial identity, ethnicity, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, ability, age, legal status, religion and socioeconomic background”

In their words, from Camp Friedenswald’s welcome statement

Leadership: Jenna Liechty Martin, executive director

Dreaming of something we haven’t imagined yet?

Peace Church Planting walks alongside people who are starting new communities of faith, and alongside the new communities on this site as they grow. If that stirs something in you, we’d love to talk.
