Find a peace church
These are the congregations and new communities of Central District Conference, Mennonite Church USA. Some gather on Sunday morning in a church building, some in a living room or a bookshop, some in the woods, one on Zoom. Each follows Jesus in the way of peace, and each would be glad to meet you.

Who are Mennonites?
Mennonites are Christians who try to follow Jesus in everyday life, especially in the way of peace. We’re part of a wider family called Anabaptists, which goes back about 500 years.
- Peace. Jesus taught his followers to love their enemies. So we work for peace and justice, and we say no to violence.
- Community. Faith is something we live out together: sharing meals, caring for one another, making decisions together.
- Baptism as a choice. People are baptized when they’re ready to decide for themselves to follow Jesus. That’s where the name “Anabaptist” comes from: in the 1500s, the first Anabaptists were baptized again as adults.
- Service and simple living. We try to live simply, share what we have, and serve our neighbors, near and far.
You don’t need to know any of this, or agree with all of it, to visit. Come as you are, and ask anything.

Communities like these

Will I be welcome?
Every community here will welcome you with dignity and respect.
Each congregation decides for itself how it lives out its faith, and they don’t all put it in the same words. Some of the new communities have written down who they welcome, and we quote them on their listing. If you have a question about a community’s practices, including how LGBTQ+ people take part in its life and leadership, please ask them directly. It’s a fair question, and asking is always okay.
Not near one of ours?
Our congregations are spread across 13 states, with a lot of space in between. Mennonite Church USA has congregations in many more places, and one may be closer than you think. We’ll show you where to look, and we’re glad to help you find a good fit.
Peace Church Planting
Dreaming of something we haven’t imagined yet?
Peace Church Planting walks alongside people who are starting new communities of faith, and alongside the new communities on this site as they grow. If that stirs something in you, we’d love to talk.
